Hydro-Gear makes three spring tensions. Gold = tightest 80lbs. Black = medium 60lbs. Silver = soft 40lbs. Springs may be swapped out but too soft of a spring may lead to the pump not fully returning to neutral and sticking. Replacing a softer spring with a stiffer spring may resolve a sticking pump.
